The Story of GHANA DANCE KAMP

About

Ghana Dance Kamp is an annual, 11 days immersive dance and cultural experience held in Accra, Ghana, dedicated to the roots, energy, and truth of Afro-dance and African culture.

More than a dance camp, Ghana Dance KAMP was born from a simple but powerful idea:

to bridge the gap between Afro-dance and culture lovers from overseas and the local dance communities where these movements were born.

In 2022, Jay-C Val initiated the first edition by inviting a small group of dancers from Europe and the USA to Ghana. The goal was not only to teach steps, but to offer a real immersion — into the people, the lifestyle, the culture, and the spirit behind the dances. What started as an intimate experience quickly grew into a movement.

Today, Ghana Dance KAMP has become a global meeting point for local and international dancers, creating a space where learning, sharing, and human connection come first.

Mission / Vision

(More Than a Camp — A Mission)

As Ghana Dance Kamp grew, its mission expanded far beyond dance:

    •    Exposing local teachers and dancers to the international scene

    •    Building strong, lasting connections between communities

    •    Broadcasting and celebrating African culture and dances worldwide

    •    Raising awareness about the real African lifestyle, beyond stereotypes

    •    Helping people reconnect with themselves by understanding cultural difference; and, through that, connect more deeply with others

    •    Serving as a platform for charity actions, giving voice to communities in need

    •    Creating a safe space; a temple of growth, training, joy, love, security, and true human connection

⸻

Ghana Dance KAMP is not just about movement.

It is about identity, transmission, respect, and unity.

A place where cultures meet, roots are honored, and people grow together.
